ABOUT US

The St. Peter’s Economic Development Organization (SPEDO) is a collective of local businesses and community groups working together to establish a framework for community growth and economic development.

SPEDO was incorporated on November 23, 2006 to steer capital improvement projects for the Village of St. Peter’s. A conceptual plan outlined short-term projects such as the Mainstreet Program (civic improvements including signage, parking, information kiosks, benches and lighting) and Façade Program (funding assistance to renew business facades). Both projects were completed between 2010 and 2013.

Since then SPEDO’s work has also been focused on developing and supporting tourism. The Village also host numerous annual events and has developed various attractions and experiences to attract tourists and new residents alike. We are also a natural gateway to the UNESCO Bras d'Or Lake Biosphere - part of the world wide initiative to reconcile the conservation of biodiversity with economic sustainability.

Today SPEDO is reviewing its long-term goals in order to move forward as a champion of the future vision and planning for St. Peter’s economic development.
